She was discovered in 1986 by choreographer Ken Moncreif. And she wore the winning garment at the Australian Fashion Awards. From that moment destiny called and Canberra’s Belinda Riding was on her way to becoming a highly successful international model. Today it was officially announced that Belinda is the Face of Fashfest 2014. It’s a role that enables her to give back to the industry that has provided Belinda with amazing opportunities and an exciting career in high-fashion hotspots like New York, Paris, Milan, Tokyo and Sydney.
‘It’s an honour to participate in Fashfest,’ says Belinda. ‘Designers and models need a serious and professional platform like this to showcase their work, gain experience and flourish in the industry. That’s why it’s fantastic that Canberra now has Fashfest. It’s the biggest fashion event held here—our own version of Sydney Fashion Week, Melbourne Fashion Festival and Brisbane Fashion Festival.’

Fashfest 2014 will be held at the Canberra airport on 30 April to 3 May. This year will be even bigger and better than its inaugural year—more ticket sales; pre-assigned seating; new designers on board; fabulous musicians and DJs; VIP guests from here and interstate; retails scouting for labels to stock; and more. Major partners include the award-winning Canberra Airport, where the event will once more be held. Tickets will be on sale soon.
After re-locating to Paris in 1988, Belinda appeared in some of the world’s most prestigious fashion magazines—French Elle, Marie Claire, Votre Beaute, Cosmopolitan, German Vogue, Grazia, L’Officiel and Le Figaro. As a model, she has worked with top designers, fashion and beauty houses, including Chanel, Hermes, Lancôme, Comme des Garcons, Azzedine Alaia, Sonja Rykiel, Jean-Charles Castlebeljac, Chantal Thomas, and Missoni. Her career has taken her to exotic location shoots across the globe—Tunisia, Marrakech, St Barts, Corsica, Cannes, St Tropez, Thailand, New Mexico and Munich—to work with the industry’s most talented fashion photographers.
In 1992, Belinda met fashion hairdresser Alan White, on a shoot in Sydney. They moved to New York in 1993 and made the famous city their home with Belinda working for the likes of Bobby Brown, Clairol, Nicole Miller, J. Crew, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. After more than a decade in the US, Belinda and Alan returned to Australia with their two sons. Today she works as Manager and Co-Director of a business she started with her husband in 2008, Alan White Anthology—an online enterprise.
